Small & Simple Things A Letter To Elder Hawley 5/14/18

Hi Elder,

It was so good to talk to you on Sunday and made Mother's Day even more meaningful. You look healthy and happy which is a real comfort to us knowing you are doing well. Keep working hard and finish your mission strong. Remember the small and simple things can bring about great things, and thinking about the words in this song throughout your days can help.

"Have I done any good in the world today?

Have I helped anyone in need?

Have I cheered up the sad and made someone feel glad?

If not, I have failed indeed.

Has anyone’s burden been lighter today

President Dallin H. Oaks said, "Surely these are small things, but surely they are good examples of what Alma taught his son Helaman: “And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord … bringeth about the salvation of many souls” (Alma 37:7).

Also in Alma 37:6 "Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise."
