Rock Solid A Letter to Elder Hawley 2/26/18

Hi Elder,

How are you doing? How was your week and hearing from Neil. L Anderson?  That must have been pretty cool. Let us know more about who you are teaching or visiting with. We enjoy hearing about your experiences.

Dad had a crazy thing happen. The ninth ward had the prophet in sacrament meeting. Dad was having his Sunday meetings and looked into their sacrament meeting and there he was. He later could hear him speaking. It was crazy.

Other than that our life just keeps on going and going nothing really new...school, work, and church stuff. It is good to know you are super busy. It will help you finish strong. You have had a great mission. Finishing strong will make it an amazing one.

Scriptures for this week 3 Nephi 11:39 and Helaman 5:12.

Have a great week. Always stay Rock Solid and be All In!

We love you a ton!!!

RIO BRAVE Week 2/19/18

Wow this week was a really good week! This week we were in Rio Bravo the whole week! Haha I missed my own bed so much.

Highlight of this week was while I was working with the missionaries, we went with a family that we were teaching. We knocked and there was nobody there so we started walking away. We felt like we needed to go to their other family member’s house. We saw this young teen kid and we talked to him. Turns out it was the oldest son of the family who we were looking for and was in a different state but had gone to Rio Bravo to live! We invited him to church and he went and he loved it! He said that he was going to bring his family and his cousin the next week! It was super awesome how the Lord guided us, and he was what his family needed to come to church!

Not that much happened this week other than that! Just a lot of working and a lot of fun! I am also super sun burned! This next upcoming week we are going to Monterrey to listen to el apostle Neil L Anderson, so that will be super fun!

I really love you guys!

Thoughts to Ponder A Letter to Elder Hawley 2/19/18

"There is a guiding hand above all things. Often when things happen, it's not by accident. One day, when we look back at the seeming coincidences of our lives, we will realize that perhaps they weren't so coincidental after all." -President Thomas S. Monson

"Though we are incomplete, God Loves Us Completely, Though we are imperfect, He Loves Us Perfectly, Though we may feel lost and without compass, God's Love Encompasses Us Completely." -Dieter F. Uchtdorf

Joy=Less Circumstances, Everything Focus A Letter to Elder Hawley 02/12/18

Hi Elder,

It sounds like things are going great. We really enjoyed reading your letter. Your Spanish must be pretty good if you can imitate the president. We are so proud of you and the opportunities you are having. The Lord is always preparing us for the next step in our progression here on earth.

We had a quote on our sacrament meeting program from President Nelson. It read "...The joy we feel has little to do with circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives."

Also, if you can read "Ignite This Light" Elder M Russell Ballard tells Mexican Saints when he made a visit to Mexico in 2011. He also says, "As we ponder the teachings of the gospel and apply them in daily living, we become better prepared to receive additional light and truth."

Our week was good and busy as usual. Megan and Malia both had Valentines dances for school. Megan's was another one with a socially awkward guy. She tries to make it fun and talk but it's kind of hard when her date doesn't talk or get involved. Poor girl. Hopefully she gets asked to Prom by someone who is fun to be with. She is dating a guy who graduated last year from Davis High, and he lives in Kaysville. She met him through FFA, and he is super nice and treats her well. So that makes her happy.

Have a great week. We love you a ton!

What a Week!!!! 2/05/18

Wow this week has been so great! To start off the week on Tuesday we had to take materials to the missionaries that were going far away, all to their new areas! The presidente and I packed up the van with mattresses and tables and drawers and desks and irons. We took all the seats out. Just the two front seats were occupied by people. The other spaces by jaja so much stuff! We were traveling all day and we went to eat in Rio Bravo! We didn’t get back till really late! It was really funny, when the elders would call the presidente, because the phone was connected to his van, I would answer the phone and pretend to be the presidente and imitate him. It was really funny jaja because some of them had no idea!

Wednesday to Sunday my companion Elder Fontes and I were in the zone of Matamoros working with the elders!  It was super fun! I got to work hard with them and see the converts that I left there! I got to see a family that got baptised the week after I left! They are super awesome and doing super great! The mom of the family use to be really sick but now she is like 100% better and super happy and active! One of them (Marcial) asked me to help them fill out their first tithing slip! It really was such a satisfying weekend to be able to see that they are doing great! We also got to work with the zone leaders there in splits!
Sunday was great, we were in the zone of San Fernando! When we went from Matamoros to San Fernando we got to take an awesome bus that had 2 floors! We got to San Fernando and the presidente was there and we had a conference with the zone. It was really good! We got to eat really good tacos of barbacoa. It was awesome! Later that night as we were driving back we went to eat with the presidente, his wife, and two of the senor couple missionaries. We stopped to get some tacos. They were just made of sheep head…eye, tongue, brain, ear, nose, cheek, neck. They were so.....great! I had the ones that were just like a mix of everything with a really good habanero salsa!

Getting back Monday night late, we caught up with some of the elders and played soccer. It was super fun, and....soooo tiring, but I love it!

I will send the pictures another day! Love you all so much!!!!

Serve in Righteousness & In Truth A Letter to Elder Hawley 2/05/18

Hi Elder,

How are things going for you? We know you are super busy. We miss receiving letters from you though. We have many questions. Are you starting to get the hang of the office? Are you enjoying all of the travel? It sounds like you are very busy and you spend a lot of time in all the different parts of the mission. Do you get a chance to interact with all the missionaries? Do you go on splits with all of the missionaries? Do you have to do a lot of training and teaching with the missionaries? Do you get to spend time with the local leaders of the church, like the bishops, stake presidencies, and others?

It was a busy week for us. The kids have been busy with school and other activities. Dad's week was super busy being part of and making many calling changes and releases in the ward. Mom has a new calling. She was called as the secretary in the relief society presidency working with Tammy Pozernick, Sharon Anderson, and Doris Garner. Three people she truly loves and admires. She is excited but nervous too. Mom had a spiritual experience before receiving her calling. Thursday night she couldn't sleep and was really restless. She kept waking up thinking about Tammy for some reason. She later found out that earlier Thursday is when Dad let Tammy know of changes that were happening and that she needed to find a new secretary. Tammy had very strong impressions to call mom as her secretary Thursday night and into Friday. Friday is when Tammy let dad know who she wanted. It is amazing how the Lord works.

How has your weather been? We haven't had much of a Winter at all. It has been in the 40's and 50's and not a lot of snow which is a worry for the water situation. We hear it has been unusually cold in Mexico this year.

Scripture for this week  D&C 76:5 "For thus saith the Lord--I, the Lord, am merciful and gracious unto those who fear me, and delight to honor those who serve me in righteousness and in truth unto the end."

We hope you have a fabulous and successful week! We love you a ton!!!
